Black Hole

P-17131704.2024AwwwardsHM

A website for Black Hole Experience, a mobile immersive art exhibition conceived by Dax Dasilva and artist Kelly Nunes, touring North America.

The project demanded a site that matched the ambition of the experience itself. Baillat Studio's design was rich and technically demanding, and every interaction needed to feel as considered as the physical installation it was representing. Built bilingually in English and French, reflecting the Montreal origins of the project.

Scroll-drivenPNGsequence

The homepage hero uses a long PNG sequence tied directly to scroll position. We took a video asset and exploded it into individual frames, giving us precise control over playback speed and feel. The result is something that responds to the user rather than just playing at them.

Everythinginmotion

Animations and interactions run across every element of the site, from the tour dates and highlighted map to the press page. The challenge was making that level of motion feel cohesive and intentional rather than busy. Each element needed to earn its animation.

Interactive3DWebGLtruckmodel

A three-dimensional model of the touring vessel sits on the site, fully interactive, allowing visitors to spin and zoom. It brings the physicality of the experience into the browser in a way that static imagery couldn't.
